Born in Paços de Ferreira in 1977. Rui Alves studied Industrial Design at IADE in Lisbon graduating in 2001. In the same year he set up his own studio, back in his home town, dealing with projects from furniture to product design. His approach to design reflects his love for materials, processes and for simple everyday objects. He tries to pass his passion for design to all, particularly to the students of ESEIG from Oporto Polytechnic Institute, where he lectures Industrial Design since 2005.
